Cavitation: σ vs. opening
σ = (p1 − pv)/(p1 − p2). Below ~2.0 vapour bubbles form; below ~1.3 they collapse hard enough to erode the trim (typical globe-valve limits, ISA-RP75.23). At night the network dp rises while the valve throttles.
